Sheena Hamilton, an attorney in Armstrong Teasdale’s Litigation practice group, has been selected to receive the Roy F. Essen Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the St. Louis County Bar Association. The award recognizes an attorney licensed for less than ten years who has shown excellent work as a lawyer, distinguished service to the organized bar and unselfish service to the community.

Hamilton will be one of three award recipients honored on February 7 at the St. Louis County Bar Association’s Annual Awards Dinner and Installation of Officers at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – Clayton.

In her law practice, Hamilton defends employers in litigation involving employment discrimination, wage and hour disputes, benefits issues and non-compete contracts. She also provides day-to-day guidance to human resources professionals and managers, writing employment agreements and crafting employee handbooks.

Hamilton regularly speaks and writes on employment and labor law in her capacity as chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Labor and Employment Committee, vice chair of The Missouri Bar’s Labor and Employment Committee, and General Counsel for the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources St. Louis Chapter. Hamilton is a member of the Regional Business Council’s Young Professionals Network’s Steering Committee, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s Gamma Omega Chapter and American Cancer Society’s Corporate Heroes Circle. In addition, the St. Louis American honored her with its 2014 Young Leader Award.

Hamilton received her J.D. in 2010 from Saint Louis University School of Law and B.A. from Tennessee State University in 2005. She is admitted to practice law in Missouri, Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri, Southern District of Illinois and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
