February 24, 2016 – DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Sang Kim, regional managing partner for Northern California, has been appointed chair of the firm’s US Tax practice. Kim succeeds David Colker of Silicon Valley, who remains co-chair of the firm’s Global Tax practice.

Kim, also a member of DLA Piper’s Executive Committee, has extensive experience in international tax issues and operational structuring, global transfer pricing, and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He regularly works with clients as managing international legal counsel for multijurisdictional and multi-disciplined projects and on matters involving employment, intellectual property, corporate formation and governance, foreign exchange, transaction taxes and import duties.

Additionally, Kim has led more than 100 international expansion and structuring projects in a wide array of jurisdictions for various types of companies, from emerging enterprises to Fortune 500 multinationals. He is also active in DLA Piper’s Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.

Kim received his B.A. from Columbia University, his L.L.M. Taxation from New York University School of Law and his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where he serves on the Law Board.
