CHICAGO (Sept. 12, 2016) — Nora Schweighart has joined Faegre Baker Daniels’ finance and restructuring practice as a partner in Chicago, where she brings extensive experience on significant and complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases as well as other insolvency matters.

Schweighart’s practice includes representing the interests of corporate debtors—as well as secured and unsecured creditors—in all aspects of corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.

She counsels debtor clients in preparation for filing of and emergence from Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 bankruptcies, as well as with out-of-court restructurings and debt-driven transactions. Schweighart also counsels non-debtor and creditor clients on a wide range of bankruptcy and insolvency issues, including the purchase of assets in bankruptcy sales (i.e., Section 363 sales), filing bankruptcy claims, negotiating settlements and reducing client exposure to bankruptcy risk.

Schweighart’s addition to FaegreBD’s finance and restructuring practice in Chicago complements and expands the firm’s already strong presence in the city and positions the firm for further strategic growth in Chicago and nationwide.

Michael Stewart, who leads FaegreBD’s finance and restructuring practice said, “Nora comes to us with an impressive background and a depth of knowledge on complex bankruptcy issues. She is a natural fit for our practice as we continue to work with clients to provide integrated and strategic counsel on a full range of financial matters and develop and execute their business strategies around the world.”

Before joining FaegreBD, Schweighart was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago. She earned her law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law with distinction, and her bachelor’s degree in political science, cum laude, from Kenyon College.
