Kay Rackauckas has been a lawyer for 19 years. She spent 12 of those years in the Orange County District Attorney's Office as one of its most respected prosecutors. During that time she tried 94 cases to jury verdict, winning 92 of them. She has had similar success as a member of the defense bar, where her negotiation as well as trial skills have made her one of the most effective defense lawyers in Orange County.

We Put Our Clients' Interests First

In recent times some defense attorneys have decided their own celebrity and media attention are more important than their clients' interests, and seek news headlines or television appearances whenever as possible.

Keller Rackauckas invites media attention only when we are certain it will benefit the client, or where that attention is unavoidable and we need to provide the client's side of the story in order to bring balance to the coverage.  Very often the best route for a client—and particularly for high-profile individuals—is for the public to never know of an investigation at all.  This avoids fallout for the client and lessens public pressure on the prosecution to file charges in the first place. So-called "celebrity attorneys" usually weaken, rather than help, their clients' chances of dismissal or acquittal.

We Prepare Each Case As If It Will Go To Trial

Conduct Our Own Investigation of Every Case

Too many attorneys assume the law enforcement investigation is accurate or thorough.  Keller Rackauckas utilizes our relationships with Southern California's best investigators to conduct private, thorough investigations of all matters—allowing us to approach cases with a completely objective view and an open mind.  Whether we uncover evidence beneficial to our client, or are able disprove the case altogether before it goes any further, investigating each case independently and not relying on the government for evidence puts our attorneys in a superior position to advise our clients.

We Take the Title "Counselor at Law" Seriously.

It isn't just our job to be tacticians; our job can mean helping the client in other ways.

Sometimes that means telling a client something he doesn't want to hear:  that the case is unwinnable, and needs to be negotiated, or that "everybody does it" is not a defense.  In other cases, we may help clients dealing with drug addiction get the treatment they need, or encourage a client with mental or emotional problems to get psychiatric help or psychological counseling.  We may locate a therapeutic school for a troubled teenager or help a DUI offender find just the right A.A. group.  With numerous contacts in all these areas, we pride ourselves on helping match the client to the resource he or she needs.
