  • A Job Opening! Glory Hallelujah!
So we’re having our morning latte, trying to catch up on the week’s legal news, including the most recent law firm layoffs and requests to associates that they take a year off. And what comes through the email? A job opening!

And not just any job opening, a GREAT opening. Tom Goldstein, the head Supreme Court guru at Akin Gump and one of the true rising stars of that bar, needs a new appellate practice/coordinator and assistant.

Goldstein’s only looking for a recent college graduate, according to the post, but if you have any interest at all in becoming skilled in the insider world of Supreme Court advocacy, you might want to consider applying. Goldstein’s group also includes the longtime Dean of the Supreme Court journalists, Lyle Denniston, who has been covering the Supreme Court since 1958. Denniston has covered one of every four high court justices. (We had the pleasure to meet him once when visiting the Supreme Court press room with another of the great high court reporters, David Pike, who sadly is no longer with us.)

Lawdragon has covered Goldstein with great interest, watching him establish himself with high court arguments from his own firm before joining Akin Gump.
