Best moment of career:
Overcoming tremendous odds to win costs of future care for a nine-year-old Ellensburg girl left a quadraplegic after a fall on school play equipment. This case required a four-year court battle with the local school district and several corporate defendants to overcome a defense based on Washington's tough recreational immunity law. It's the largest settlement in the history of Kittitas County.

Worst moment of career:
Any time a jury-after 32 years there've been a few-decides a case against my client. As an attorney, I have other cases. My client only has one chance for justice.

Attorney you most admire:
Yakima native William O. Douglas. Eventhough he reached the pinnacle of the legal profession, the U.S. Supreme Court, he never forgot his roots. He continued to be a voice for the poor, the disenfranchised, and the powerless.

Favorite activities (besides the Law):
I love to hike in the Cascade Mountains, take in good plays, see good movies, and listen to all kinds of music. I also love to watch my three grandsons (soon to be four) play all kinds of sports. All these things make me a better person and a better lawyer.

Favorite Sports Team (if you have one), or Favorite Theater or Museum, etc:
Even after more than 30 years of bad management, bad trades, and failure to make the World Series, I still love the Seattle Mariners. Wait til next year! I also love our Capitol Theatre, the small theatre jewel of the Pacific Northwest.
