Ms. Dermody is a partner in the San Francisco office of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP. Ms. Dermody chairs the
firm's Employment Law practice group and has an active consumer protection practice. Ms. Dermody is an experienced litigator
whose recent achievements include resolving the uninsured pricing class action lawsuit against California-based Sutter
Health. This groundbreaking case resulted in a settlement valued at an estimated $276 million in refunds or bill reductions.
The settlement required that Sutter lower its charges and end price discrimination against all uninsured patients, maintain
generous charity case policies allowing the low-income uninsured to receive free or heavily discounted care, and protect
uninsured patients from unfair collections practices. Similar litigation against Catholic Healthcare West, in which Ms.
Dermody served as lead partner for the firm, also reached a settlement valued at $423 million.
Ms. Dermody has regularly been recognized for her outstanding legal work, including receiving a California Lawyer Attorney
of the Year award in 2007 and being named a Northern California "Super Lawyer" for the past four years. She was selected as
a finalist for "Trial Attorney of the Year" in 2007 by Public Justice Foundation and was also selected as a finalist for
"Consumer Attorney of the Year" in 2006 by the Consumer Attorneys of California. Ms. Dermody is active in many legal and
public interest organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of San Francisco, and as
