Scott Gilbert scares most insurers. The lawyer, who represents policyholders, secured the largest insurance settlement in U.S. history. Known as the Wellington Agreement, 15 insurers agreed to pay 35 asbestos defendants more than $10 billion in insurance coverage. Gilbert continues to tackle liability coverage issues stemming from faulty heart valves, defective pharmaceuticals and environmental contamination. He is sought after as an expert witness from the United States to England. He is also an arbitrator within the American Arbitration Association and a lecturer at several universities.
