A champion for wronged execs,
employees and unions, he won for the Dallas Firefighters Association and has taken
on TXU and Spencer’s Gifts.

He’s a champion for whistle-blowers, unions and wronged employees.

Nothing slips by Hal "Rattlesnake" Gillespie, who fights for the underdog. "He's a tough, hard-nosed litigator who's good at what he does," say competitors. The plaintiffs' lawyer was lead counsel in a ground-breaking whistleblower suit under Sarbanes-Oxley for an executive at energy company TXU, and he represented a former employee of cyclist Lance Armstrong in claims of fraud and infliction of mental distress. In the early 1990s, Gillespie forced the Dallas transit system to honor its labor union's grievance procedures. He beat Spencer Gifts on behalf of a sales executive who claimed the company discriminated against him.

THE LAW FIRM
GILLESPIE, ROZEN, WATSKY, MOTLEY & JONES, P.C. practices exclusively in employment and labor law on the side of employees and unions. Hal Gillespie and Yona Rozen practiced law together for nearly a decade before launching the firm, together with David Watsky, in 1990. Together with Susan Motley and James Jones, the shareholders are committed to providing first rate legal representation to employees who have disputes with companies and to labor organizations.
Dedicated to recognizing and meeting the needs of its clients, the firm offers practical, successful solutions, coupled with aggressive, effective advocacy. Shareholders Gillespie, Rozen, Watsky and Motley are Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. All the shareholders were named “Super Lawyers” by Texas Monthly in 2005 or past years. Together with associates and staff, GRWM&J strives to provide the highest quality representation while seeking justice in the workplace for all it clients.
ACHIEVEMENT MATTERS
All of the GRWM&J shareholders are known for working hard to resolve cases by settlement but not shying away from necessary trials. The shareholders have handled significant cases in various areas of employment and labor law and competed successfully with larger firms that represent employers. Even in large class action and collective action cases, which GRWM&J shareholders have litigated nationwide, the firm is able to supply the resources and the talent to successfully resolve these complex matters. The firm cares about future impact, not just the size of its cases. All the shareholders take pride in offering high quality representation.
BEATING THE ODDS
What satisfies the lawyers at GRWM&J most is continuing to fight against long odds and much bigger firms, and continuing to win. Firm lawyers regularly fight for the little guy. In the context of major corporations, even a top executive becomes the little guy when going against the company. “We fight the trend that says it is harder these days to bring lawsuits against big companies, and we survive and thrive as a law firm, Gillespie says. “We’re growing while doing good work for good people.”
Results obtained depend on the facts of each case.
