Ed focuses his practice on the handling and trial of products liability matters, complex commercial cases, and defense of
class actions. Ed's trial skills have received the highest recognition of his peers: Ed is a Fellow of the American College
of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the International Society of Barristers. Ed is also
consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America and has been selected as one of the top ten litigators in Florida.
In 2007, he was included in Expert Guides: Guide to the World's Leading Product Liability Lawyers.
Ed has represented numerous corporations in defending class action lawsuits. Some of his notable class action experience
includes co-lead counsel in smoking and health cases in Florida. He has also defended various class action claims against
such clients as Home Depot, American Home Products (diet drug litigation), various members of the insurance industry, and
the health care industry.
Ed has tried product liability cases for clients such as DuPont, Westinghouse Corporation, American Motors, Texaco, Otis
Elevator, United Technologies, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, Hartford Insurance Company, and The Boeing Company (in
the Aero Peru Crash). He served as co-lead defense counsel in the DuPont Plaza fire case in San Juan, Puerto Rico;
represented Boeing Company in numerous crash disasters; represented Texaco in an "environment spill" - toxic tort case; and
represented Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company in two major class action trials.
Ed has also represented numerous architectural and construction firms in construction-related litigation, including his
representation of Westinghouse in litigation arising from construction of the Miami Metrorail System.
