Raymond Boucher is a trial attorney specializing in complex consumer and construction defect, product liability, toxic tort,
employment discrimination, and bad faith litigation. He practices in all 9th Circuit Courts as well as all District Courts
in California.
Most recently, Mr. Boucher was named the 2007 Trial Lawyer of the Year by both Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) and
Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA); received Fort Lewis College's 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award for the
School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; the President’s Award from Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers’ Association;
selected as a 2008 Southern California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine; received the Strengthening Our Lives Award (SOL
engages in issue advocacy and civic education), as well as the Bench and Bar Award.
Raymond Boucher is recognized as one of the Daily Journal’s “Top 100 Most Influential Attorneys in California.” He received
the 2002 Ted Horn Memorial Award, which is given by CAALA for the selfless gift of one’s talent. Pepperdine University
School of Law honored him with the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2002. California League of Conservation Voters awarded
Mr. Boucher with the 2005 Environmental Leadership Award for his longstanding dedication to the environment and public
health rights of individuals. And, he was presented the 2006 Justice Armand Arabian Award for outstanding efforts to secure
justice for victims of clergy abuse by the Project Sister organization.
The Public Justice Foundation awarded Mr. Boucher the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award in 1994; he was a finalist for this
Award in 2000. He is also a recipient of several Presidential Awards, Awards of Merit and Commendation from several Trial
Bars, as well as an honorary Doctor of Law degree by the Whittier College School of Law. Mr. Boucher received the Los
Angeles County Democratic Party’s John F. Kennedy “Profiles in Courage” award and was honored as Consumer Attorneys of San
Diego’s “Consumer Advocate of the Year” in 2007. He often speaks at CAOC, CAALA, AAJ, National College of Advocacy seminars
and various educational conventions throughout the country.
Mr. Boucher was President of CAOC in 2007 and President of CAALA in 2005. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for
Public Justice Foundation; the Pepperdine School of Law Board of Visitors; the Los Angeles County Bar Association; the
Diversity in Law Foundation; the California State Delegate to the American Association of Justice (AAJ); and a Fellow of the
National College of Advocacy. He is also a member of the Roscoe Pound Foundation; the Civil Justice Foundation; the
American Bar Association; the Los Angeles Bar Association; and the Orange County Bar Association.
A favorite pastime of Mr. Boucher’s is doing fund raising for various local, state and national organizations. He has
raised tens of millions of dollars during the last several election cycles for California as well as monies for races at the
Federal level and many philanthropic campaigns.
Mr. Boucher spends a considerable amount of time doing pro bono and other volunteer work. He frequently advises U.S.
Senators and Representatives, as well as California State Senate, Assembly and Constitutional Officers about legal and
political issues. In the fall of 2004, he helped lead the fight to defeat Proposition 64, which sought to limit the ability
to bring environmental polluters to justice.
Throughout his career, Mr. Boucher has tried more than 60 cases and has received several billion dollars in verdicts for his
clients. He has briefed and argued more than 20 appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Second, Third and
Fourth Appellate Districts in the State of California.
Recently, Mr. Boucher has been instrumental in coordinating landmark settlements with Catholic dioceses throughout
California on behalf of hundreds of plaintiffs against the Catholic Church. The past six years of Mr. Boucher’s practice
have been primarily devoted to the task of exposing the church’s systematic concealment of the rape of children by its
clergy. The civil justice systems around the world have until very recently denied victims the opportunity to bring
accountability to this institution.
Mr. Boucher received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Business Administration and Political Science from
Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado in 1980; his Master of Science degree in Management from Colorado State University
in 1981; and his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1984. He is licensed to practice in the
state of California.
