Representing Office Depot in the publicly announced SEC inquiry and a series of class actions

Representing Sun Microsystems in connection with a qui tam action filed by federal regulators in April, 2007.

Also assisting the company as it defends itself against allegations that Sun Microsystems, and several other companies, had improperly obtained GSA contracts. Representing Sun on related issues before Congress and the Office of the Inspector General.

Currently representing Medtronic in qui tam investigations before the Department of Justice, Office of Inspector General, and the Department of Health and Human Services. These cases are preliminarily settled, and are on appeal before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Cobb has represented Medtronic for the past 18 years.

Representing the former CEO of major public company in a SEC inquiry and related civil cases

Representing the former Vice-Chairman of Ferris Baker Watts in the publicly announced SEC investigation

Representing multiple individuals in the publicly announced SEC investigation of Dell, Inc.

Recently represented the Audit, and later, the Special Committees of Home Depot in the publicly disclosed stock options backdating internal investigation.

Successfully represented the Audit Committee of major pharmaceutical company in a SEC whistleblower investigation which concluded with no government action against the company.

Within the past year achieved several SEC "no action" letters or similar commitments from the SEC in non-public matters for significant clients of the firm.

Represented two of the most senior former officers of Qwest in SEC and DOJ investigations in which many former officers, directors or employees were charged civilly by the SEC and/or criminally by the DOJ.

After a 3 week trial, a federal judge in Los Angeles ordered Henry Yuen, the ex-CEO of Gemstar-TV Guide International, to pay $22.4 million for misleading investors by inflating the company's revenues. In 2003, NewsCorp, after obtaining control of Gemstar, ousted Yuen as well as the company's CFO and its general counsel. The firm advised Gemstar with respect to the removal of Yuen and his management team and then worked closely with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) trial team during the course of the Yuen litigation.

Representing a former senior-level CIA agent who was dismissed from the agency in connection with an alleged leaking investigation.
