How did you come to hold your present position (specifically, what led you to become a legal recruiter, marketing consultant, etc.)?
I had had a career in both print and broadcast journalism and then I worked on Capitol Hill as the press secretary for the House Ethics Committee. In 1979 I started this firm and because a great deal of business in Washington DC has to do with lawyers and law firms it was a natural progression to provide PR services to the legal profession.

What is the best thing about working with lawyers?
They're smart and generally very intellectually stimulating to work with. They are always challenging me.

What is the worst thing about working with lawyers?
Their "rear view mirror" vision and their inability to quickly grasp new business concepts and ideas. They never want to be first. And, first is sometimes what success is all about.

What has been the most satisfying moment of your career thus far?
My groundbreaking marketing work with Howrey & Simon in the 90's. It has yet to be duplicated in the legal milleau.

What are your favorite activities outside the law?
Golf, fly fishing, travel, cycling (motor and bike) and just being outdoors near my home in the mountains of Colorado.
