Consulting services you provide:
On behalf of Jaffe Associates, I provide strategic public relations support to law firms. This support includes media outreach, crisis communications, website and brochure content writing through our WritersForLawyers service, rankings support through our RankingsForLawyers service, speaking engagements through our LexSpeak service, and assistance with profiles on social networks and other PR 2.0 applications.

How did you come to hold your present position (specifically, what led you to become a legal recruiter, marketing consultant, etc.)?
After working in New York City for several years on the PR agency side and then in-house, I wanted to achieve a work/life balance. Jaffe, a national PR agency for law firms, operates as a virtual company, with staff located in cities nationwide and in Canada. Jaffe's business model enables me to practice high-level, strategic public relations for the legal industry, while working from a home-based office.

What is the best thing about working with lawyers?
As a former practicing attorney, I appreciate the law firm culture and the inquisitive, analytical minds within law firms. It is especially interesting these days to help lawyers grasp the concepts of Web and PR 2.0, and to apply the technologies to their marketing efforts.

What is the worst thing about working with lawyers?
Lawyers can be skeptical and risk-averse, which is a terrific characteristic when offering legal counsel, but it can be a detriment within a public relations campaign. However, I find that lawyers benefit from a "PR 101" type education, and ongoing information, which eases their minds and allows them to more comfortably engage in public relations and social media outreach efforts.

What has been the most satisfying moment of your career thus far?
Certainly, it is satisfying every time a client benefits from our public relations efforts. But personally, a satisfying moment in my career was the day, as a law firm associate, that I decided to follow my boss/partner's networking advice to "work the room" and in doing so, switched from being a matrimonial litigator to a public relations practitioner to help other lawyers "work the room" and drive more business to their firms.

What are your favorite activities outside the law?
I've enjoyed being a member of a community chorus.
