Best moment of career:
I have been blessed with many "best" moments of my career. If I had to pick one: My participation in the resolution of the Toms River cancer cluster cases. The cases were primarily for children with cancers allegedly suffered as a consequence of their mothers' exposures to toxic substances in their drinking water.

Worst moment of career:
The worst moment of my career was having to move to terminate my representation of a client and the ensuing litigation. We were successful in getting out of the case -- the court finding that the client's conduct more than satisfied the criteria for our withdrawing from the representation.

Attorney you most admire:
Arthur Bryant, the long time Executive Director of Public Justice (formerly known as Trial Lawyers For Public Justice). Arthur, an outstanding lawyer and thinker, has overcome great personal challenges to lead Public Justice to its position as the most effective and prominent national public interest law firm.

Favorite activities (besides the Law):
Playing with my two small boys (6 and 4). Reading literature/novels and world history. Jazz music. Hiking. Baseball. Tennis. Travel. Modern Art and Photography. Theater with my wife.

Favorite Sports Team (if you have one), or Favorite Theater or Museum, etc:
New York Yankees. The Music Box Theater on Broadway. The Museum of Modern Art.

What is your proudest accomplishment on behalf of your firm:
Two things: (1) Leading the firm, with the active support of my partners, through our transition from the firm's original leadership to a second "generation" of management; and (2) LCHB has been named to the National Law Journal's Plaintiffs' "Hot List" -- the best plaintiffs firms in the US -- every year I have been the Managing Partner (2002 - 2007).

If there is one thing you could do over as managing partner/chairperson, what is it?
I wish I had figured out how to balance management and practice sooner. I think I have developed techniques that allow me to spend quality time practice law without sacrificing my managerial duties.

Is there anything - an individual, a double espresso, a good 4:30 a.m. workout - you consider essential to your success?
Supportive and engaged partners.
