Best moment of career:
Confirmation of Chapter 11 Plans of Reorganization in cases like AM International, EPIC Associates, LTV, and General Development Company.

Worst moment of career:
In General Development, standing before Bankruptcy Judge Cristol, five minutes into my argument on our key legal defense, and being told by the Judge that he totally rejected the theory and that I needed to come up with another defense, at which time he left the bench and said he would return in 10 minutes, leaving me standing alone at the podium in a packed courtroom (we did come up with one and confirmed a $1.5 billion case in under two years).

Attorney you most admire:
Lloyd Cutler: he was never the loudest voice in the room, he rarely dominated the early conversation in a meeting, he was always respectful, and by the end of the meeting, he was also the most respected by everyone, supporter and foe alike.

If there is one thing you could do over as managing partner/chairperson, what is it?
Learn to delegate more; my tendency is to do too much myself, which becomes more and more difficult as a firm grows and which inhibits the ability of others to grow and take on more responsibility.

Is there anything - an individual, a double espresso, a good 4:30 a.m. workout - you consider essential to your success?
Find people who will be honest with you; too often people tell you what they think you want to hear. In my case, my wife does that for me and it is crucial to success in this job.
