Best moment of career:
Adding the premier California policyholder insurance coverage practice to our Firm in May 2005, which, in one fell swoop, enhanced the stature and helped provide for the generational transition of that practice; took the Firm to California; and brought us some incredibly talented and wonderful people.

Worst moment of career:
When the jury came back against us after we told the client its case was "a slam dunk." (Thank goodness, we prevailed on appeal.)

Attorney you most admire:
My brother, John Nannes, a brilliant former U.S. Supreme Court Clerk, to whose accomplishments in public service and philanthropy I can only aspire.

Favorite activities (besides the Law):
Experiencing life with my children- nothing else comes close.

Favorite Sports Team (if you have one), or Favorite Theater or Museum, etc:
University of Michigan football; Cal Ripkin and game 2131.

What is your proudest accomplishment on behalf of your firm:
The pride with which people report to me reactions they receive when they tell others "I work at Dickstein Shapiro." Years of effort creating a family friendly environment; respecting and engaging with associates and staff; embracing diversity; prioritizing pro bono; and believing in and living our core values are having an effect. Our people understand what we stand for, and the court of public opinion undertands and values that as well.

If there is one thing you could do over as managing partner/chairperson, what is it?
Sweat the little things less.

Is there anything - an individual, a double espresso, a good 4:30 a.m. workout - you consider essential to your success?
Perspective and a sense of humor are crucial. Exercise helps a lot too.
