  Mark Lacter's Bio

• Mark Lacter writes a business column for Los Angeles Magazine, as well as being an L.A.-based contributor to Inc. magazine. He also does business analysis each week for KPCC-FM, the NPR affiliate in Los Angeles. Before that, he was a senior editor at Forbes, covering media and entertainment, and was editor of the Los Angeles Business Journal, which was regularly named one of the best business weeklies in the nation. His other reporting and editing credits include the San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Daily News and Orange County Register. Lacter's commentaries on business and economics have won numerous national and regional awards, and he was named Distinguished Journalist of the Year in 2005 by the Society of Professional Journalists.
