Our Guides

THE LAWDRAGON 500

Each year, we publish The Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America – the most elite guide in the legal profession. We also publish the Lawdragon 3000 (previously known as “The Finalists”), from which we draw the final list of 500. The Lawdragon 500 is always presented in print and in digital-magazine format in our highly-acclaimed magazine. Lawdragon also produces an annual guide to the nation’s Most Powerful Employment Lawyers that is produced with Human Resource Executive and is released in June each year.

The 2011 Lawdragon 500 was published at the end of last year. Congratulations to all our honorees! The complete list of the Lawdragon 3000 will be published in the Spring. Our print magazine featuring the 2011 Lawdragon 500 will also be released this Spring, with an April 30 date scheduled for online posting.

Note on Methodology: The leading lawyer guides are selected from a combination of editorial research by Lawdragon staff; submissions from law firms; and an online ballot that allows visitors to our site to vote for and comment on their favorite lawyers. Our own editorial research is the most important factor in the selection process, but firm submissions and online voting are both extremely helpful.

**THE 2012 LAWDRAGON 500 SCHEDULE**

Submissions now open! Law firms and other interested parties can send in submissions or attorney names for the online ballot at any time until the final Sept. 5 deadline. Here are the key dates:

♦ The online ballot opens for voting June 15

♦ Ballot closes and submissions period ends Sept. 5

♦ Lawdragon 500 released on Dec. 31

What to send: Some firms only provide us with names to post on the online Lawdragon 500 ballot; other firms prefer to send supporting information for each lawyer, which typically is about a paragraph or so of accomplishments with an emphasis on recent legal matters from the past year.

We are happy to accept any type of submission at nominations@lawdragon.com. You can also call editor John Ryan at 213-446-3726 to discuss these matters or give information over the phone.

When to send it: As soon as you like. We will continue to add names to the ballot even after the ballot goes live on June 15, so there is no deadline, though it is better for the attorneys to be on it as close to June 15 as possible.

As for submissions with supporting information, some firms send us submissions well before the deadline, then provide us with updates later in the year; others wait until the submissions deadline. Either approach is fine.

As always, thanks for your participation!
