NEW YORK, NY (April 16, 2013)Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP  is pleased to announce that Avinash (Avi) V. Ganatra has joined the firm as partner in its Corporate Department effective April 15.  Mr. Ganatra’s substantial practice concentrates on U.S. and international capital markets, securities and both domestic and cross-border leveraged finance transactions.  Mr. Ganatra joins Carter Ledyard from the New York office of Squire Sanders (U.S.) LLP, where he was a partner in its corporate finance, securities and governance department.

Mr. Ganatra has experience representing U.S. and global companies, investment banks and financial institutions in equity and debt capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings, Rule 144A/Regulation S high-yield debt offerings, shelf offerings, private placements, debt tender offers and consent solicitations.  He has substantial experience in leveraged finance transactions and represents lenders and borrowers in secured and unsecured lending transactions.  Mr. Ganatra has served as an advisor to banks on corporate issues relating to complex restructuring matters and global companies on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and securities law matters.

Born in India, Mr. Ganatra received law degrees from the University of Mumbai – Government Law College, LL.B. in 1993 and New York University School of Law, LL.M. in 1994.  He received his undergraduate degree from University of Mumbai – Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics in 1991.  He is admitted to practice law in India and New York and speaks both Hindi and English.  He is a founding member and first president of the South Asian Bar Association of New York and is very active in building bridges with the South Asian business communities in India and New York.
