New York, NY (June 11, 2019) – New York Law School (NYLS) will host the WorldPride 2019 Human Rights Conference on June 24 and 25, 2019. The two-day global conference includes 40 panels and features more than 200 speakers from around the world, including NYLS faculty.

One key panel is “Technology, Cyberharassment, and Queer Equality,” which will discuss real cases in which technology, mobile apps, and other platforms are endangering LGBTQ people and how individuals can protect themselves online. The moderator is NYLS Professor Ari Ezra Waldman, Director of theInnovation Center for Law and Technology. The panelists are Andrew Santa Ana, Director of Litigation at Day One and Faculty Supervisor of NYLS’s Cyberharassment Clinic; Carrie Goldberg, Founder of CAGoldberg PC and co-counsel in Herrick v. Grindr; and Tor Ekeland, Managing Partner at Tor Ekeland Law, PLLC and co-counsel in Herrick v. Grindr. NYLS’s panel will be held Tuesday, June 25, 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

WorldPride events are attended by millions, and host cities have included London, Madrid, and Rome. This year’s event is the first WorldPride held on U.S. soil. It pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, which took place a short distance from NYLS’s Lower Manhattan campus and became a watershed moment in the LGBTQ civil rights movement.
