February 4, 2014 – As part of DLA Piper’s long-term leadership transition process to advance its position and strategy, the firm today announced that Roger Meltzer and Sir Nigel Knowles* will become global co-chairmen of the firm, effective January 1, 2015. In addition, Cameron “Jay” Rains and Simon Levine* will become global co-CEOs of the firm, also effective January 1, 2015.

Meltzer and Knowles will succeed DLA Piper’s current global co-chairs, Lee I. Miller and Tony Angel, and Rains succeeds current global co-CEO J. Terence “Terry” O’Malley, all of whom will continue to have important advisory roles as the firm expands and refines its business and operations in practice groups, sectors and geographies. Levine will succeed Knowles.

Meltzer and Rains are currently co-chairs of the Americas for DLA Piper, positions that they will retain upon assuming their global leadership roles. Stasia Kelly and Mike Poulos will also remain as co-managing partners of the Americas, and it is anticipated they will make significant contributions to the management of the global firm.

Knowles is currently managing partner of the International business, which he will continue as until April 30, 2015, and Levine is co-managing director of Groups and Services for the International business, which he will continue as until December 31, 2014.
