CHICAGO (April 28, 2014) Polsinelli proudly welcomes attorney Mark D. Nelson, who joins the firm as a shareholder, focusing his practice on the labor and employment needs of health care providers. Nelson represents management on labor issues for health care providers in the Midwest and East Coast. Polsinelli has the fourth largest Health Care Practice in the nation which was attractive to Nelson.

“I’m pleased to be joining Polsinelli at such an exciting time for the firm,” says Nelson, a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law. “The firm is growing nationally, enhancing the capabilities of its already vibrant and successful Health Care Practice and advancing strategically in other areas as well. The synergy of such a dominant Health Care Practice with a depth of capacity in labor and employment matters, along with other areas of business law, makes it a fantastic place to serve clients’ needs.”

Nelson has spent more than 30 years representing management in labor matters, including union organization, employment disputes and unfair labor practice proceedings. He has successfully negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements and represented employers in arbitration hearings, before state and federal regulatory agencies and in court. He has also been retained as special investigative counsel in several sensitive harassment matters.

Nelson is part of Polsinelli’s growing Labor and Employment Practice which includes 50 attorneys in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix and Kansas City, Springfield, St. Joseph and

St. Louis, Missouri. The practice has more than tripled in size in the last five years. BTI Litigation Outlook listed Polsinelli among a dozen national firms as a “standout” for its counsel in complex employment litigation matters. Law360 ranked Polsinelli’s Labor and Employment Practice in the Top 100 based on number of attorneys.

“Mark brings significant labor experience to the firm with a reputation for serving clients in the health care industry,” said Labor and Employment Practice Group Chair W. Terrence Kilroy. “He’s a great match for our firm and we are excited about his addition as we continue our growth in markets like Chicago and Atlanta.”

A frequent speaker and writer on labor topics, Nelson is an excellent source for reporters working on stories about:
