HONG KONG, 6 October 2014 – Kobre & Kim announced the appointment of Randall Arthur, who has joined the firm as a partner in its Hong Kong office.  Randall has been practicing in Hong Kong for much of his career, focusing on insolvency and debtor-creditor matters, fraud and asset tracing, international judgment enforcement, and commercial litigation, including financial products and services, and joint venture, partnership and shareholder disputes.

Randall joins Kobre & Kim from a specialist Hong Kong litigation firm where he acted on a variety of corporate and commercial disputes, as well as contentious insolvency matters.

Also joining the firm’s Hong Kong office is Gabrielle Liu, who will focus on debtor-creditor disputes and government enforcement defense. Gabrielle previously worked at Mayer Brown JSM.

With the opening of its Hong Kong office in 2010, Kobre & Kim became the first litigation boutique to offer multi-jurisdictional disputes and investigation capabilities with practitioners based in the U.S., Asia and Europe.  With the appointment of the latest hires, the Hong Kong litigation team now numbers 11 lawyers and financial analysts.  The office works closely with the firm’s six other offices, including a London-based disputes/investigations team led by three English Queen’s Counsel and four former U.S. Department of Justice lawyers, and offshore teams located in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

“Randall is an accomplished lawyer who has extensive experience in both Hong Kong court proceedings and cross-border insolvency disputes,” said Steven G. Kobre, co-founder of Kobre & Kim.  “He will bring additional depth and breadth to our expanding capabilities that complement our offerings across Asia, U.S., U.K., and major offshore jurisdictions. In the next month, we will be announcing further expansion of our PRC-focused, native Mandarin speaking team.”

Randall Arthur commented: “I have been impressed by Kobre & Kim’s ability to craft sophisticated multi-jurisdictional litigation strategies with a practical, goal-oriented approach, especially when the matter requires offshore capabilities such as BVI or Cayman law expertise.”
