Professional Experience

Alan Graham Greer, who concentrates in civil commercial litigation, is certified by The Florida Bar in both business litigation and in civil trial practice.  He has been additionally certified in civil trial practice by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  He joined the firm in 1969.

Education

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, he served six years in the U.S. Navy before earning his Juris Doctor at theUniversity of Florida College of Law.

Professional Activities

He is Past Chairman of the International Law Committee of The Florida Bar, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (and past chair of its Professionalism Committee), he is also a Trustee of the American College Trial Lawyers Foundation, the International Society of Barristers, and the American Bar Foundation.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar Association and the Dade County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Board of Probono.net, a national organization dedicated to providing resources to attorneys doing pro bono work and past-president of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society.

Mr. Greer serves as a faculty member and lecturer for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, teaching continuing legal education courses.

Civic Activities

Active in a variety of civic and public affairs projects, he is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Directors of Friends of WLRN Public Radio and Television and a member of the WLRN Chairman Circle.  He has served as Special Counsel for the Florida Wildlife Federation, handling water and environmental litigation on a pro bono basis.  He is Past Chairman of the Dade County Council of Arts & Sciences, Founding President of the Bay Front Park Management Trust and The Vice Chairman of Camillus House which is a major provider of services to the homeless.

Mr. Greer is Past Vice President of the Metropolitan Dade County Center for the Fine Arts and he served as a member of the Speaker’s Task Force on Water Issues to recommend a state policy on water resources.  He is a Past  Vice Chairman of Dade County Art in Public Places Committee, and a Trustee of the University of Florida Law Center Association as well as a past member of the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism.

Mr. Greer is admitted to The Florida Bar, the New York Bar, the Bar of the District of Columbia, the Federal Bars for several District Courts and Circuit Courts of Appeal, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Claims and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Greer has achieved an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest rating possible regarding legal ability and professional ethics, and Register of Preeminent Attorneys. He is featured in Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA Guide, as well as Florida Trend magazine's Legal Elite. Mr. Greer has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America for over 10 years and was recognized again for 2009 in the areas of commercial litigation, securities law and the newly created category of “Bet-the-Company” litigation. He was also selected as one of the 500 Leading Lawyers in the United States by LawDragon in 2012 and 2013. Mr. Greer has also been named as one of the top 10 attorneys in the state and as a Florida Super Lawyer in the area of business litigation.  This distinction is reserved for the top 5% of Florida attorneys in their respective areas of practice as chosen by their peers and the independent research of Law and Politics. He was the 2008 Florida Bar Board Certified Lawyer of the year.
