Neal Robb

A seasoned litigator, Neal Robb has been defending financial services firms, with particular emphasis on securities brokers, financial advisors, investment bankers, credit-card issuers, and consumer and business lenders, for over three decades.  Neal joined  Keesal, Young & Logan in its Long Beach office in 1982 and has been a shareholder of the firm since 1987.  Neal has tried cases before courts, juries, and private arbitrators, and has represented parties in hundreds of cases filed before current and former securities arbitration forums such as FINRA, NASD, NYSE, MSRB, and PCX, as well as other “neutrals” such as JAMS and AAA.  In addition, Neal has significant experience handling large and complex litigation, having handled numerous class actions, mass actions, “private attorney general” actions, unfair and deceptive practices actions, and other types of complex cases.  Neal also regularly handles a broad range of general business litigation.  Neal is in charge of recruiting and hiring for the firm’s Long Beach office.  His peers have recognized his abilities:  Neal has received an AV® peer review rating from LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell (recognized for the highest level of professional excellence) and was honored as a Southern California Super Lawyer for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 (based on an extensive process of balloting, blue-ribbon panel review, and independent research).  Neal was born in 1957, graduated with honors from the University of California, Irvine in 1979 with a degree in English, and received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco in 1982.  While in law school, Neal was a member (1980-1981) and Executive Technical Editor (1981-1982) of Comm./Ent., A Journal of Communications and Entertainment Law.  Neal was admitted to the California Bar in 1982.

While in practice, Neal has served as Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles County Municipal Court.  He has also served as an arbitrator for securities and commodities arbitration organizations.  He has addressed securities industry groups and given talks to managers and registered representatives of securities firms.

Published decisions in cases Neal has handled include Paul v. Friedman, 95 Cal. App. 4th 853, 117 Cal. Rptr. 2d 82 (2002), and Goodman v. CIBC Oppenheimer Co., 131 F. Supp. 2d 1180 (C.D. Cal. 2001).

Neal devotes a considerable amount of time to charitable causes, and actively supports various charitable organizations, particularly those related to autism and other developmental disabilities.  He is a former Director and two-term President of the Fragile X Association of Southern California, a charity devoted to raising public awareness of and supporting families affected by Fragile X syndrome, a genetic disorder.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Arts & Services for the Disabled, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing arts-based learning, community service, and career opportunities for persons with disabilities, as well as the Board of Visitors of the U.C. Davis MIND Institute (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders), an international research center affiliated with the University of California Davis School of Medicine dedicated to researching the causes and treatments of autism, Fragile X syndrome, and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
