We are pleased to present the 2013-2014 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America – our 8th annual guide to the best of the profession! The lawyers below will be featured in the 2014 Lawdragon print Magazine scheduled for release in May.
It became clear at the end of December – when we began announcing honorees through our social media outlets – what an interesting year we just finished.
We saw a $130 billion dollar deal, Dell’s founder buying his company back, Twitter pulling off a successful IPO, a $13 billion settlement between the Justice Department and JPMorgan, and more $1B settlements of securities litigation and other sewage from the financial collapse. These Lawdragon 500 members cleaned up the past while also moving ahead into the evolving areas of data privacy, gay marriage, civil rights and other matters of public interest. The Biglaw elite stayed strong on the highest-value cases and deals, but there are many new names below, with women making up nearly 30 percent of the total.
As in past years, the Lawdragon 500 is chosen from a combination of submissions from law firms; votes and comments through our online voting form; and our own editorial research, which remains the most important factor in the selection process. Thanks again to all of those who participated!
