Cavanagh’s litigation accomplishments include a landmark case involving the death of a United Airlines baggage handler, who suffered a fatal fall at a U.S. military base in Kuwait. Cavanagh was a member of the team that secured a $6.65 million jury verdict for the family after moving the case from the Persian Gulf region to Cook County Circuit Court. The case garnered national attention and highlighted the firm’s skill in addressing international jurisdictional challenges.
In another highly publicized case, Cavanagh was part of the litigation team that obtained a $20 million settlement against the City of Chicago after a drunk, off-duty police officer with a history of alcohol-related incidents caused a fiery crash killing two young men. The team uncovered critical evidence that initially had been withheld by the city, compelling the Chicago Police Department to address its long-standing “code of silence” in shielding officers from accountability.
“What I truly enjoy is working with people and representing them, whatever their legal needs may be,” Cavanagh says.
