Mike Quinn is a partner at Decof, Mega & Quinn, P.C. He has developed a reputation as one of the premier trial lawyers in the region with over $200 million recovered for clients, including some of the highest jury verdicts in recent years.
Quinn’s path to becoming a lawyer was not linear. He grew up in the Apponaug section of Warwick without a single lawyer in his family. As a boy, his goal was to make a career through military service. After high school, he earned a spot in the incoming class of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Soon after, a medical disqualification cost him his dream of earning a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. Dejected, he accepted a spot at the University of Rhode Island. He graduated at the top of his class and then earned his law degree from Villanova University in Philadelphia.

Upon graduation, Quinn began his legal career at a boutique trial firm defending hospitals, doctors, and other medical professionals in malpractice actions. There, he developed a love for the courtroom and the science of medicine. He joined the Decof firm in 2010 and since then, has developed a special expertise in cases involving babies, children, and young families. He regularly tries high-stakes cases in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and has obtained some of the highest settlements and verdicts in a wide range of cases involving cerebral palsy, birth trauma, hypoxic-ischemic injury, sepsis, spinal cord injuries, amputations, missed cancer diagnoses, intestinal damage, urologic damage, heart attacks, and strokes. He has obtained several multi-seven-figure jury verdicts, including the largest personal injury jury trial judgment in Rhode Island history of $62 million in Sfameni v. Rhode Island Hospital. He also obtained the following life-changing settlements in just the last several years:
- $20+ million medical malpractice settlement for amputee.
- $15+ million medical malpractice settlement for wrongful death of young mother following childbirth.
- $10+ million medical malpractice settlement for cerebral palsy, hypoxic-ischemic brain injury following birth.
- $10+ million medical malpractice settlement for quadriplegia in a young father;
- $10 million medical malpractice settlement for a young mother who developed sepsis following childbirth.
In addition to his medical malpractice work, he has also represented people harmed by construction negligence, legal malpractice, nursing home negligence, defective products, unsafe property, and serious car crashes. His recent accomplishments include a $13 million wrongful death settlement arising from a negligently maintained construction project, a $10.5 million wrongful death settlement arising from a high-speed motor vehicle collision, and a $4.5 million settlement in a severe injury caused by a mismanaged crane operation.
Despite his accomplishments, the heart of Quinn’s trial practice is his commitment to preserving the principles of dignity, integrity, honesty, and compassion. His purpose is not just to win trials and obtain settlements - it's to ensure that every person who interacts with the justice system is treated with the utmost respect and fairness, regardless of who they are or where they come from. He prioritizes direct, transparent, and honest communication right from the beginning of the attorney-client relationship, empowering clients to make informed decisions that are best for them at every stage of the legal process.
Quinn and his wife, who he went to high school with, are parents to five young children. They are active in their children’s schools and their parish at Our Lady of Mercy in East Greenwich, where their older sons can be found altar serving on many weekends.
