Martha Goodman is a versatile civil litigator and trial lawyer with a relentless drive for client success. Recognized as “highly practical” and a “wonderful advocate for her clients”, she consistently secures favorable outcomes, from winning critical preliminary injunctions and motions to dismiss, to achieving summary judgments that resolve cases decisively. Her extensive experience as trial counsel means she’s not only expert at managing large matters throughout and preparing them for trial, but also ready to take the case to trial and to win. With more than a decade of experience on the front lines of groundbreaking legal battles, Goodman has played a pivotal role in high-profile trials at the cutting edge, including representing athletes in O’Bannon v. NCAA, an antitrust trial that broke ground for college athletes to be compensated for their name, image and likeness; and Waymo v. Uber, a trade secrets dispute regarding cutting-edge self-driving car technology highlighting intense competition and financial stakes in the race to revolutionize transportation. She has expertly guided her clients through five trials, preparing and examining first-time witnesses in significant matters with reputational impact while also deftly cross-examining adverse witnesses with an eye toward dismantling the opposing narrative. For as many cases Goodman as taken to trial, she has advised many more clients in securing favorable settlements on the eve of trial – earning her the recognition from clients for having “great judgement and presence in court” for leading complex litigations.
