Juli Blanch is a commercial litigation trial attorney. She is one of a handful of Utah lawyers who is in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers and the American Board of Trial Advocates. She has tried a broad range of cases over her three decades in practice, involving everything from trusts and estates, product liability, and bad faith insurance claims. Lately, her practice has focused on commercial litigation, and catastrophic personal injury cases. She was the chair of the Utah Civil Jury Instructions Committee, which updated the civil jury instructions used in state and federal court trials. Blanch regularly presents at seminars for Utah lawyers on the basics of litigation, jury selection, and trial techniques. She has also taught Trial Advocacy as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah Law School.
Blanch has handled dozens of appeals on the state and federal levels, including over 40 published opinions, including appeals from bench trials and jury trials and appeals from administrative decisions. She has argued before the Utah Court of Appeals, the Utah Supreme Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also served for several years on the Utah Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Utah Rules of Appellate Procedure.
She is the Tenth Circuit representative on the ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary. This Committee conducts independent peer evaluations of the professional qualifications of nominees to the federal bench.

Served as legal counsel for a renowned cosmetic surgeon in a jury trial and subsequent appeal against a medical malpractice insurer. The Utah Supreme Court affirmed the jury's verdict, awarded attorney fees and costs and reversed the dismissal of the punitive damages claim, allowing for a potential retrial on punitive damages.
Commercial Lease Dispute Resolution for Airport-Adjacent Property
Served as legal counsel for a tenant and purchase option holder in a commercial lease dispute involving undeveloped land near a major airport. Defended against landlord's claims of breach of contract and sought damages for wrongful eviction, including lost opportunity to exercise purchase option and attorney fees under the lease agreement.
Commercial Real Estate Lease Dispute Defense for Landlord Clients
Defending landlord clients in a multi-state commercial real estate lease dispute. The case involves allegations of lease breach by a tenant, with counterclaims for unpaid rent, specific performance and unlawful detainer across properties in Utah, Oregon, and California.
Representation in Complex Tribal Lawsuit Against Multiple Defendants
Served as legal counsel for tribal members and entities in a federal lawsuit involving fraud, conspiracy and RICO claims. The case, filed by a former tribal judge, includes demands for asset forfeiture and receivership appointment. Notable defendants in the 320-page complaint include a state governor and a major law firm.
Counterclaim in Breach of Lease Allegations
Defending landlord in lawsuit alleging breach of commercial real estate lease in four properties across multiple states and brought counterclaim for breach of the lease and specific performance on a purchase option.
Bad Faith Insurance Prosecution
Obtained a jury verdict for a plastic surgeon client in a lawsuit against his insurance carrier for breach of the duty of good faith, then won on cross-appeal the right to pursue a punitive damages claim on his behalf. his medical malpractice insurer.
