Chuck Googe is Global Chair of the Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions Group at Paul, Weiss, and the Chair of the firm’s Entertainment Department.
As founder of the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions Group, Googe focuses on all aspects of intellectual property, including copyright, trademark and patent. He has special expertise in all forms of transactional work involving intellectual property and technology, licensing, due diligence, IP joint ventures, developing and implementing prosecution strategies, IP audits and other intellectual property counseling. He has specific experience in software, information technology and entertainment content development, acquisition and distribution over the Internet and other media. Googe's experience covers a broad range of industries, intellectual property specialties and deal sizes. In addition to working closely with our most experienced lawyers in mergers and acquisitions, finance, tax, communications, antitrust, litigation and bankruptcy on structuring the intellectual property aspects of some of the firm’s most sophisticated transactions, he has also represented many medium-sized and even start-up enterprises in connection with their intellectual property needs.

As chair of the Entertainment Department, Googe also focuses on the representation of individuals and companies involved in all aspects of the entertainment industry, including film, television, publishing, music, digital and live stage. More specifically, his film experience covers clients in the independent film world as well as producers, writers, directors and film editors working with major Hollywood studios. He represents record labels as well as several popular recording artists, stage producers, institutional theaters, authors, composer/lyricists, directors, choreographers and designers. Googe has also been a key player in several notable transactions in the publishing industry.
Googe served as a senior editor of the Columbia Law Review.
