From December 2023 through December 2025, Lieberman and his colleagues have filed a total of six lawsuits against OpenAI, Microsoft, and Perplexity AI alleging copyright infringement and other claims arising from the use of clients' content to train ChatGPT and other generative AI products. The cases are on behalf of major news outlets from across the United States including The New York Times, New York Daily News, U.S News and World Report, Chicago Tribune, and many others. The cases are pending in the Southern District of New York.
