The Lawdragon selection process has been created by professionals who have reported on and worked with the world’s most accomplished lawyers and legal professionals for more than 100 years. We founded Lawdragon in 2005 to offer insightful, contemporary and even-handed analysis of the ever-evolving global legal market.
The foundation of our selection is in journalism. We research each guide extensively, studying which lawyers, legal professionals and law practices have had significant impact, including an emphasis on recent cases, investigations and deals handled and activity in matters of the moment.
We accept submissions and review them alongside thousands of candidates we independently identify and consider for each guide.
The inaugural edition of The Lawdragon 500 Global Leaders in Investigation is focused on recognizing and providing a resource of those lawyers skilled in helping clients handle criminal, civil or other inquiries by entities from Congress and other governmental agencies to a range of other organizations. Many of these lawyers will have backgrounds as prosecutors or in other governmental and or law enforcement agencies. They are called on by public and private companies, boards of directors and audit committees, senior executives and general counsels.
They are trusted to navigate outside the courtroom, and – should it become necessary inside – on matters including corporate governance, board fiduciary duties, alleged breaches of contract and other commercial conflicts. Other areas of inquiry could include antitrust, securities, accounting standards, transportation regulations, money laundering and anti-money laundering controls, trade sanctions and export controls, manufacturing integrity and product recalls, the False Claims Act, tax compliance and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). This is a global guide and we are seeking the advisors entrusted with similar confidential and high-level investigations throughout the world.
To make a Lawdragon guide, a lawyer or practitioner will have been in practice 15 years, with extremely rare exceptions, and in most cases significantly more. Similarly, virtually all will be partners in their law practice or hold a designation that indicates the regard of those with whom they practice. Leadership within their discipline in a firm, company and or in relevant bar organizations is considered. We aim to include those others aspire to be and who are admired for their intellect and wisdom as well as conduct and leadership.
Lawdragon is an advocate for inclusion in the legal profession and searches extensively for female and inclusive candidates who further equality in the legal profession.
Thank you for your interest in Lawdragon.
