The Lawdragon Process

The Lawdragon selection process has been created by professionals who have reported on and worked with the world’s most accomplished lawyers and legal professionals for more than 100 years. We founded Lawdragon in 2005 to offer insightful, contemporary and even-handed analysis of the ever-evolving global legal market.

The foundation of our selection is in journalism. We research each guide extensively, studying which lawyers, legal professionals and law practices have had significant impact, including an emphasis on recent cases, investigations and deals handled and activity in matters of the moment.

We accept submissions and review them alongside thousands of candidates we independently identify and consider for each guide.

The inaugural edition of The Lawdragon 500 Global Leaders in Crisis Management is aimed to honor the world’s leading minds in the art of calming, managing, defusing and ‘handling’ matters that threaten an institution, whether a global corporation, powerful individual, nonprofit or other entity. This practice has arisen at warp speed in the past decade, bringing together white-collar experts, litigators, investigators, media mavens and corporate lawyers who can inform and assuage a board. Or those skilled in laying out the bad news and executing a plan of an entirely different sort. We are looking for those skilled in the arts of public relations as well as those who proactively handle legislative, regulatory, social, legal and cyber issues that cut through any good modern-day crisis. As an inaugural edition, we look forward to being dazzled at the range of talent that coalesces to deal with crisis.

To make a Lawdragon guide, a lawyer or practitioner will have been in practice 15 years, with extremely rare exceptions, and in most cases significantly more. Similarly, virtually all will be partners in their law practice or hold a designation that indicates the regard of those with whom they practice. Leadership within their discipline in a firm, company and or in relevant bar organizations is considered. We aim to include those others aspire to be and who are admired for their intellect and wisdom as well as conduct and leadership.

Lawdragon is an advocate for inclusion in the legal profession and searches extensively for female and inclusive candidates who further equality in the legal profession.
