San Diego, Calif. — March 21, 2012 — Cooley LLP announced today that Ali M.M. Mojdehi has joined the firm as a partner in its Bankruptcy and Restructuring practice. He will be based in its San Diego office.  Mojdehi was previously a partner at Baker & McKenzie, LLP, in San Diego and is the former chair of its Financial Restructuring, Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy Practice Group in North America.

Mojdehi advises debtors and creditors and provides counsel to boards on innovative and efficient strategic transactions and restructurings. Both in and out of court, Mojdehi has represented debtors-in-possession, trustees, creditors, statutory creditor and equityholder committees, bondholders, financial institutions, and third-party purchasers of distressed assets, across a wide array of industries including real estate, construction, hospitality, oil and gas, energy, telecommunications, retail, manufacturing, transportation, financial services and technology.

Mojdehi is admitted to practice law in California and Oklahoma. He is a former member of the Bankruptcy Rules and Practice Committee of United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Delaware and served as Chair of the Chapter 11 Rules Review Committee of United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of California. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, San Diego Bankruptcy Forum and Iranian American Bar Association, among other professional groups and associations. He is Chairman of the Board of the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA), and serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees of The Bishop’s School, La Jolla, Calif.  He earned his J.D. from the University of Tulsa, College of Law in 1982.
