LOS ANGELES — 40 years ago, when a group of 18 administrators combined to form what would become the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (GLA ALA), the average salary for administrators was $17,450 and now with the chapter 350-members strong and representing some of the most powerful law offices in the Los Angeles area, the current average salary for Legal Administrators ranges between $101,820 and $156,670 according to ALA’s Compensation Salary Survey, up to 9 times higher than 40 years ago, showing the power and magnitude ALA has brought through the promotion of excellence within the profession.

With a mission of improving the quality of management in legal services organizations throughout the Los Angeles area legal community, GLA ALA will celebrate its 40th anniversary as a dynamic force within the community during the 40th Anniversary Celebration event on Tuesday, June 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Traxx Restaurant, in Union Station, located at 800 North Alameda Street in Los Angeles.

The predecessor of GLA ALA was founded in 1972, later combining in 2003 the former Los Angeles and Beverly Hills chapters, spearheaded by the vision of a joint committee lead by Jim Van Dusen, CLM and then president of the newly combined chapter.

“I am proud of the gains that GLA ALA has made over the past 40 years,” says GLA ALA President Shaun Morrison. “ALA has been at the forefront of the legal management profession and it’s rewarding to look back at the impact the organization has had on the community, its members, and the profession.”

The 40th Anniversary Celebration event is free to GLA ALA members and $60 for non-members.  RSVP by June 5.
