Boston, June 13, 2012 Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Sarah K. Gagan has joined the firm’s Boston office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Gagan brings more than a decade of experience advising both public and private clients across a number of industries including technology, financial services, consumer products and government agencies.

Gagan’s practice focuses on technology and intellectual property transactions, including complex licensing and development arrangements, systems integration projects, information technology and business process outsourcing. She also regularly advises clients on technology and intellectual property issues in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity transactions.

Gagan joins a team of attorneys at Latham that opened the firm’s Boston office in 2011 and have successfully built a client base advising emerging companies and multinational conglomerates as well as the investment banks, venture capital and private equity firms that serve them.

Phil Rossetti, Latham & Watkins’ Office Managing Partner in Boston, said: “Our clients come from a diverse array of backgrounds and Sarah’s expertise in technology ownership for emerging companies, open source matters, licensing, intellectual property diligence and merger provisions will be invaluable to them. I am pleased to welcome Sarah to the firm and believe she will be an excellent fit for our Boston practice and the firm.”

“Sarah will be a great addition to our global team, working with colleagues and clients to identify, conceptualize and develop creative solutions to the business and legal issues that arise in the course of a complex technology transaction.  Her knowledge of the various transaction structures and vehicles inherent in complex technology arrangements will be a great value to clients here in Boston and around the globe,” added Alexander Temel, the Corporate Department Chair in Boston.

“I have been particularly impressed by the commitment that Latham has demonstrated to the Boston market and I am excited to join my new colleagues at Latham & Watkins.  The talented Boston team coupled with the firm’s global platform offers the kind of depth and reach that will serve my clients well.  I look forward to the opportunity to grow my practice,” said Gagan.

Gagan joins the firm from Bingham McCutchen LLP. She received her BA with honors in 1991 from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada and received her law degree from the McGill University Faculty of Law in 1994.
