Miami - Bilzin Sumberg is proud to announce that Land Use & Government Relations partner, Albert E. Dotson, Jr., has been honored as a recipient of The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation's 2012 Spirit of Democracy Award.

The Spirit of Democracy Awards are awarded annually to outstanding mentors, community organizers and leaders who are committed to creating balance in the democratic process and support The Coalition's mission of making civic participation a cultural responsibility and tradition.

Mr. Dotson was honored at The Coalition's 15th annual Spirit of Democracy Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. on May 17, hosted by actress Vivica A. Fox.

In addition to maintaining a successful practice, Mr. Dotson serves as the National Chairman for 100 Black Men of America, an appointee to the Florida Federal Judicial Nominating Commission, past Chairman and member of the Overtown Youth Center board, and past President and member of the Orange Bowl Committee board.

Mr. Dotson's practice encompasses federal and local government procurement contracts and compliance. He represents real estate developers in securing land use, zoning and other government approvals and permits for large-scale real estate developments.
