HOUSTON, Aug. 20-- Jones Day announced that Scott Schwind, an oil and gas industry lawyer focused on cross-border transactions, has joined the Houston Office as a partner in the Energy Practice.

"Scott's extensive international experience, particularly with Latin American and African transactions, will be a great asset to our global energy practice and in particular a nice fit with our offices in Brazil and Mexico," said Nancy MacKimm, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Houston Office. "His work and counsel will help us better serve oil & gas industry and energy infrastructure players in Texas and around the world."

Formerly a partner in Thompson & Knight LLP's Houston office, Mr. Schwind handles upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions, advising both foreign and domestic companies and individuals in matters across the globe. His experience includes exploration and production projects, midstream and downstream transactions, foreign and domestic acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas producing properties and infrastructure, and domestic and international construction and infrastructure development projects, particularly in the energy and petrochemicals industries.

A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law (J.D., 1996), Mr. Schwind is fluent in Spanish and  Portuguese, and has practiced law in São Paulo. He has been listed in Chambers Global (Projects, Projects: Regional Specialists - Latin America) since 2010 and in Chambers Latin America (Projects) since 2008.
