New York, NY (January 7, 2013)Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP is pleased to announce that Karen Schiele and Mark Zancolli have been promoted to partner and Judith Wallace to counsel, effective January 1, 2013.  Ms. Schiele and Mr. Zancolli were formerly counsel and Ms. Wallace an associate at the firm.

Karen T. Schiele is a member of the Trusts & Estates Department. She advises a number of high wealth individuals, trustees and non-profit organizations with respect to wealth transfer, tax planning and administration.  She is a member of the estate and gift taxation committee of the New York City Bar Association.  Ms. Schiele graduated magna cum laude in economics from Harvard University with an A.B. in 1995. She received her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 2000 as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University Law School in 2006.

Mark R. Zancolli is a member of the firm's Litigation Department. His practice consists of commercial litigation and arbitration spanning a broad range of substantive areas, including business torts, employment, real estate, commercial landlord-tenant, media and First Amendment law, reinsurance, insurance coverage, products liability and construction law.  Mr. Zancolli received his B.A. magna cum laude in 1990 from New York University and his J.D. cum laude in 1998 from Brooklyn Law School.

Judith Wallace practices in the areas of Art Law, Environmental Law, Litigation and Energy Project Development and Finance.  Ms. Wallace’s practice includes representing collectors, foundations, artists and scholars in matters of art ownership, authenticity, authorship, consignment and sales, foundation governance and other art-related matters; advising public agencies and private parties on permitting and compliance under state and federal environmental laws; and litigating art, environmental and general commercial matters in state and federal courts.  She was recognized as a “Rising Star” in the 2012 edition of “Superlawyers.” Ms. Wallace received her B.A. in 1987 from New York University and her J.D. cum laude in 2005 from Georgetown University Law School.
