LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Goodwin Procter today announced that Paul Lyons will join the firm as a partner in its London office. Lyons comes to Goodwin from Travers Smith, where he has been a partner in its banking practice since 2003.

Lyons will primarily focus on real estate debt finance, where he has significant experience in advising both borrowers and lenders. His added experience in leveraged finance will also support expansion of Goodwin’s London-based private equity practice. Lyons will join Goodwin following completion of his notice period.

“Paul brings significant expertise in all aspects of real estate debt finance to our growing London team,” said David Evans, London Office Chair. “As real estate debt markets continue to evolve in Europe, particularly with the expansion of the non-bank lending sector, new opportunities are emerging. Paul will further strengthen Goodwin’s ability to serve its clients as they capitalize on these market shifts.”

“We’re delighted that Paul is joining our existing five-partner London real estate practice, which includes Joe Conder who recently joined us from Linklaters. This represents Goodwin’s latest step in the buildout of a talented and deep team with decades of sector experience,” said Regina M. Pisa, Chairman of Goodwin Procter. “We are committed to continued, focused expansion in London and are pleased that Paul has chosen Goodwin as the platform for his future practice.”

Lyons’ experience has included advising banks on debt originations and restructurings as well as real estate and private equity fund clients on both lender and borrower mandates, and on debt secondary transactions. He joined Travers in 1997.

Evans, who joined Goodwin from Ashurst in late 2011, is leading efforts to expand firm hiring in London to support new and existing EMEA clients in the real estate, hospitality and leisure, fund formation and private equity sectors.
