NEW YORK, March 13, 2013 -- Arnold & Porter LLP announced today that Bruce D. Saber has joined the firm’s growing real estate practice as counsel in its New York office.

Mr. Saber brings to Arnold & Porter broad-based experience in sophisticated real estate transactions gained during a 30 year career in real estate as a partner at two national law firms and as a senior executive with several major commercial real estate companies. Bruce’s experience will complement the firm’s already active real estate finance practice in New York.

While at his previous law firms, Mr. Saber largely focused on complex private equity, financing, development, hospitality and leasing matters. In addition to his work in private practice, Mr. Saber served as a Managing Director in the Merchant Banking group at Goldman Sachs, where he was general counsel for the real estate funds, including the Whitehall Funds, having over $100 billion of assets under management. Bruce was also General Counsel and Senior Managing Director of Tishman Speyer Properties, General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Monday Properties, and President of Curator LLC.

“Bruce has a keen understanding of the New York real estate market and considerable experience in both private practice and real estate development and investment firms. This unique combination allows him to view real estate transactions from multiple vantage points, thereby providing our clients with comprehensive and thorough counsel,” said Stewart D. Aaron, head of Arnold & Porter’s New York office.

Added Michael D. Goodwin, head of the firm’s Real Estate practice: “The breadth and depth of Bruce’s experience, which includes the purchase and sale of properties, leasing, equity joint ventures and finance, expands our range in New York. It is the perfect complement to our existing practice and allows us to provide our clients with a fully inclusive range of capabilities.”

In recent years, the firm has also added to its New York real estate team with such experienced practitioners as Alan Lawrence and John Busillo, who focus on the representation of institutional lenders in origination workouts of mortgage and mezzanine loans and investments.

Mr. Saber received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review.  He obtained his B.A. from the University of Rochester.

“Joining Arnold & Porter allows me to draw upon my experience and network to help clients across the real estate continuum realize their business objectives,” said Mr. Saber. “I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and together providing first rate counsel.”
