HOUSTON (July 8, 2013) - Bracewell & Giuliani LLP is pleased to announce that Donald J. DeGabrielle, former United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas, has joined the firm as a partner in its White Collar Defense, Internal Investigations and Regulatory Enforcement practice. DeGabrielle has had a distinguished career in federal law enforcement, including service as a Special Agent with the FBI, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and ultimately as United States Attorney, the Houston area's top-ranking prosecutor.

"Don's investigation and trial experience will be a great addition to our White Collar team and a significant asset to our clients" said Mark C. Evans, Bracewell's managing partner.

"The judgment one develops and exercises as U.S. Attorney is unparalleled. It gives Don the ability to advise clients with insight that very few lawyers possess," added Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, the firm's name partner and a former United States Attorney.

During his time with the U.S. Attorney's Office, DeGabrielle led the Criminal Division within the district and held an assignment with the Public Integrity Unit, where he focused on trials related to public corruption, white collar crime, environmental crimes and bank fraud. He also spent a year as the Resident Legal Adviser to the South African National Directorate of Public Prosecutions, serving as a consultant and adviser for rule of law and criminal justice development.

Before his tenure in the Southern District of Texas, DeGabrielle was an Assistant District Attorney in New Orleans, where he conducted more than 150 jury trials. He is also a former FBI Special Agent in New York and New Orleans.

"Our aim is to hire the best practitioners in the field of criminal law and to provide clients with the best advice in complicated situations. That's why we want Don," said Marc L. Mukasey, who leads Bracewell's White Collar group.

DeGabrielle is the latest addition to Bracewell's growing white collar defense practice. The Houston office also boasts Jeffrey B. Vaden, who prior to joining the firm served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Texas. Bracewell's white collar defense practice spans across the firm's New York, D.C., Dallas, Houston, and Connecticut offices. Like DeGabrielle and Vaden, many of the group's attorneys have served in leadership positions at the Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney's Offices for the Southern District of New York and the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas, the SEC, the New York (Manhattan) and Dallas County District Attorneys' Offices, and FERC.
