The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that it has been selected to receive the Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA). This is the second time in four years the law firm has been chosen as a recipient of this award. The award will be presented on September 19, 2013, in Washington, D.C.
This year, Quarles & Brady will be honored for its significant commitment to providing pro bono legal services. Nominated by the State Public Defender's office, Quarles & Brady was selected for its firm-wide criminal appellate and death penalty representation and a Truancy Court project initiated by Milwaukee office lawyers in the Appleton (WI) school district. That project provides pro bono legal assistance to unrepresented students.
“We are honored and humbled to receive the Beacon of Justice award for a second time,” said Pro Bono Coordinator Mike Gonring. “We want to thank the lawyers, paralegals and staff members involved in these efforts for their time and commitment in helping to provide legal representation to those who cannot afford it.”
