Chicago – Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Jerold A. Jacover will join the firm’s Intellectual Property practice in the Chicago office.  Jacover focuses his practice on patent, copyright and unfair competition, including litigation and trials. He has successfully tried cases involving myriad forms of technology, including electronic circuitry, remote controls, robotics, electro-mechanical systems, injection molding and food and beverage equipment. Through his extensive trial work, Jacover has obtained several multi-million dollar recoveries for various clients, including a $40 million judgment following a five-week patent jury trial.

“Jerry brings a wealth of intellectual property litigation expertise and experience. He will be a truly valuable asset to our clients and our national IP team,” said Pavan Agarwal, chair of Foley’s Intellectual Property department. “His extensive trial and technology industry experience is a welcome addition to our thriving practice group.”

Jacover will join Foley as of counsel from Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione LLP, where he was an intellectual property shareholder in the Chicago office and served as firm president from 2000 to 2005. He is also the founder of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago’s Educational Foundation, which awards scholarships to disadvantaged high school students in the Chicago area.

“Jerry is a well-respected intellectual property attorney in Chicago and his track record for success in numerous high-profile cases is extraordinary,” said Myles Berman, managing partner of Foley’s Chicago office. “We are excited for him to join our team as we continue to bolster our intellectual property capabilities.”

“Foley has a vibrant and forward-looking intellectual property practice, with offices throughout North America, Europe and Asia, that attracted me from the start,” said Jacover. “I look forward to continuing my career with such a diverse range of colleagues and a prestigious clientele.”

Foley was recently ranked as an “IP Litigation Standout” in BTI Consulting Group’s Litigation Outlook 2014 report issued in September.
