Minneapolis, MN (February 5, 2014) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has landed renowned labor and employment attorney Douglas (Doug) R. Christensen in its Minneapolis office. Christensen, formerly of Dorsey & Whitney and past chair of its national Labor and Employment Law Practice Group, brings more than 25 years of labor and employment law experience to Littler.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Doug join the firm,” said Andrew Voss, Minneapolis office managing shareholder. “Doug is an accomplished attorney, proven leader and has strong connections to the employer community. He will bring tremendous value to the firm as we continue to expand our capabilities throughout the region and on a national and global scale.”

A Chambers USA-ranked attorney, Christensen’s practice encompasses all aspects of labor and employment law for a diverse range of corporations in a broad spectrum of industries, as well as a number of nonprofit organizations. He represents clients in a variety of employment matters, including collective and class actions before federal, state, trial and appellate courts, as well as corresponding administrative agencies and arbitration forums.

“I have long admired Littler and am eager to join the team here in Minneapolis,” Christensen said. “Littler’s extensive geographic reach, depth of subject matter expertise and innovative resources were just some of the many aspects that attracted me to the firm. I am excited to be part of a growing global powerhouse.”

In addition to his active litigation practice, Christensen provides tactical counseling to clients, as well as problem solving and crisis management skills in dealing with human resources issues. He assists employers with workplace training and investigations and negotiates employment, restrictive covenant and separation agreements. He also develops employment policies and manuals, provides advice on wage and hour compliance issues, and offers counseling on discipline and discharge issues.

Christensen also maintains a traditional labor practice, which includes assisting employers in union organizing attempts, National Labor Relations Board proceedings, collective bargaining agreement negotiations and administration. He defends labor arbitration cases and has handled strike prevention and planning and corporate campaigns.  He has been involved in numerous reorganizations, acquisitions, mergers, and sales and purchases of corporations and assets to identify and resolve labor and human resources issues.

In addition to being recognized by Chambers, Christensen has been ranked by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers. He has presented extensively on a variety of labor and employment law topics at seminars and meetings for lawyers, management and human resource professionals. He has also been quoted extensively and published in the media.  Christensen received his J.D. from Duke University School of Law (1988) and his B.A. from University of Notre Dame (1984).
