MIAMI, FL – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP announced today that Partner and Litigation Co-Chair Marty L. Steinberg will be the recipient of the American Jewish Committee's (AJC) Judge Learned Hand Award. The award, considered one of the highest honors given within the legal profession, recognizes lifetime achievement and dedication to individual rights and democratic values. Mr. Steinberg will be honored at a gala dinner on Wednesday, May 7th at The Four Seasons Hotel Miami.

Mr. Steinberg is recognized as a leader in the legal profession and a dedicated supporter of community endeavors. A renowned trial attorney whose practice spans over 40 years, he is consistently recognized for his professional accomplishments and expertise by esteemed legal publications such as Chambers USA, where he has received the highest rankings in General Commercial Litigation and Antitrust.

A former U.S. Senate Chief Counsel and Chief of the U.S. Department of Justice's Organized Crime Office in New York, Mr. Steinberg joined Bilzin Sumberg in 2012 and is currently the co-chair of the Litigation department, where he focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and internal investigations.

Mr. Steinberg is a dedicated philanthropist, having founded the Symmetry Foundation, the organization that established Coral Rock Academy, a school dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for students grades 4-12 with neurological and socialization disorders. He regularly participates in Bench & Bar Committees in an effort to improve the judicial system, and often volunteers his time to local charitable causes.

"I am honored and delighted to celebrate Marty's achievements and the mark he has left on his community," said Al Dotson. "He truly sets an example for his colleagues and embodies the core values immortalized by Judge Learned Hand: individualism and respect for democratic values."

AJC, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing human rights and democratic values in the U.S. and worldwide, established the annual award in 1964 to recognize leaders in the legal profession for their excellence and contributions to the practice of law. The award honors the memory of Judge Learned Hand, a highly distinguished individual recognized as heir to Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes’ legacy of a Jurist and Poet of Liberty. Judge Hand, a graduate of Harvard and its law school, was widely admired as a Dean among American jurists, and was well-known for the extensive range of decisions he tendered that centered on questions of constitutional rights and antitrust legislation.

Bilzin Sumberg attorneys regularly volunteer their time to philanthropic and community efforts through the firm's community involvement program, Bilzin Sumberg Cares.
