LOS ANGELES (April 21, 2014) Polsinelli welcomes attorney John L. Babala as a shareholder in the firm’s growing national Corporate and Transactional Practice. Babala has spent nearly 20 years representing individuals, and private and public businesses through virtually every strategic phase of the business and economic life cycle.

“I am really excited to join Polsinelli which offers my clients truly comprehensive and national resources. It is an outstanding opportunity to broaden my own practice while working with attorneys who are top of class and committed to understanding their clients’ business,” said Babala. “The firm is building a great coast-to-coast reputation and I look forward to helping grow a first generation law firm in Los Angeles.”

Babala’s experience includes working with clients in a variety of industries, including action sports, aerospace and defense, broker-dealer, energy, financial services, food and beverage, health care, marine services, private equity, real estate and technology. He handles day-to-day legal matters for his clients, as well as their non-ordinary course transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances, venture capital and private equity investments and offerings of debt and equity securities. Babala also regularly advises directors and C-suite executives on complex matters of corporate governance.

“John adds depth of substantive knowledge in general and in several of our key industries of current and emerging focus,” said Corporate and Transactional Practice Group Chair Jon Henderson. “His leadership energy brings value to our Corporate and Transactional Practice, and his colleagues look forward to the synergies from John being with us in Los Angeles.”

The addition of Babala occurs during an exciting period of overall growth for Polsinelli, which has seen its national footprint expand to 11 states and 18 cities. The Los Angeles office opened in 2011. Polsinelli was recently recognized as the fastest-growing law firm in America during 2008 to 2012 by The American Lawyer. In 2013, the firm moved up to the 69th position from 78th in The National Law Journal’s ranking of the largest U.S. based law firms. The American Lawyer Magazine featured Polsinelli in its June 2013 issue.

Babala earned his law degree in 1995 from the University of Michigan Law School and also earned a B.A. in 1995 from Alma College. He is a member The State Bar of California and the Illinois State Bar Association and recently was selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers Rising Stars. Babala also publishes and lectures regularly on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and securities.

Babala should be considered an excellent source for reporters working on stories about:

                        ♦ Mergers & acquisitions

                       ♦ Trends in corporate finance

♦ Issues facing private equity-backed and emerging growth companies
