LONG BEACH, CA – Elder abuse law firm Garcia, Artigliere & Medby, announced the addition of attorney Christopher Piekarski in the firm’s Louisville office. Mr. Piekarski has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation, personal injury, product liability, premises liability and contract disputes. In addition, he has resolved claims through settlement and mediation and has worked with defense experts in preparation for depositions and trials. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Piekarski was litigator with a defense firm in Louisville, where he successfully defended clients before courts in Kentucky, Ohio and Florida. He has represented physicians, long-term care facility employees and administrators, and insurance companies in progressing claims through mediation and trial.

“Christopher’s knowledge in representing long-term care facilities and insurance adjusters makes him a valuable addition. He possesses a breadth of knowledge that many attorneys don’t,” said Founding Partner Stephen M. Garcia. “We are pleased to have him join our team.”

Mr. Piekarski obtained his Juris Doctor from Louis D. Brandeis School of Law of the University of Louisville, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Illinois University. While in law school, he was a member and Articles Editor of Brandeis Law Journal, in which he published, “The Effect of an Increasingly Mobile Society on Kentucky’s Grandparent Visitation Statute”. He was also Facilitator of Client Counseling for the Moot Court Team and a member of the Moot Court Board.

Mr. Piekarski has been named to the list of “Kentucky Rising Stars” by Super Lawyers. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and Florida Bar Association and is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, State of Ohio, State of Florida, Eastern and Western Federal District Courts of Kentucky and the U.S. Sixth District Court of Appeals.

Attorney Dana J. Harris has joined the firm’s Florida office. Ms. Harris is a trial lawyer with extensive experience in nursing home negligence and wrongful death disputes, having successfully obtained multi-million dollar settlements for her clients. In addition, she has served as prosecutor and court-appointed defense counsel while simultaneously managing a private criminal defense practice, where she handled hundreds of criminal cases. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Harris served as Vice President and Co-founding Partner of Harris & Rentz, P.A., where she handled pretrial discovery in nationwide pharmaceutical drug litigation.

Ms. Harris obtained her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. While in law school, she was a member with distinguished honors of the Moot Court Board. Ms. Harris is a member of the Florida Bar.
